Muscle Relaxants
What are muscle relaxants and how do they work?
Muscle relaxants or anti-wrinkle injections contain Botulinum Toxin A which is a muscle relaxant. They work by
reducing the movement of the muscles under the skin surface, thereby smoothing out the lines. There are several brands of Botulinum Toxin A including Botox, Bocouture, Azzalure and Dysport.
Benefits of muscle relaxants:
- Little down time
- The treatment is personalized and tailored for your individual needs
- Very safe and non-invasive, you don’t need to go under the knife to look young
Procedure:
A small amount of Botulinum Toxin A is injected into the affected area, using a very fine needle. An anaesthetic cream may be used prior to the procedure to reduce sensitivity. The anti-wrinkle injection works on the affected muscle group and
discomfort is usually minimal. It only takes 3-14 days to reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles.
Applicable areas:
Botulinum Toxin A is most often used to treat frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead wrinkles although other areas can also be treated such as the nose and the neck.
How long do they last?
Typically last for 3-4 months although some people get a longer or shorter duration than this.
